Can Rural Hospitals Survive?

This week, I had the opportunity to contribute a piece to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, discussing the impact of predatory insurance payers on rural hospitals, and by extension, their communities.

The article discusses how patients and medical providers are being bled dry by insurance companies using loopholes in programs like Medicare Advantage, all to pad their profits while delaying and denying vital care.

This is an untenable situation that will result in ongoing patient suffering, financial disaster, and even death — all so these predatory insurance giants can continue to climb the Fortune 500 list.
